Have an Idea Worth Illuminating?

We're interested in books that make people think.

What we're looking for

CharterLight looks for books that spread something good and teach us how to become better humans: books that educate, challenge, inspire, and illuminate.

Fiction counts, as long as the story teaches or uplifts. 8 Wisdoms is a novel that carries eight principles inside its narrative; a book like that is exactly what we're reading for.

We care less about your platform than about whether the book is worth writing. A first-time author with a genuinely useful idea interests us more than a familiar name with a familiar book.

  • Personal development
  • Fiction that teaches
  • Philosophy
  • Business
  • Leadership
  • Human potential
  • Practical wisdom
  • Parable and allegory
  • Meaningful nonfiction
  • Rediscovered classic ideas

How it works

  1. Share your idea

Tell us about the book, who it's for, and why it needs to exist. The form below takes about fifteen minutes.

  2. We read it

Every submission is read by the CharterLight team. We'll be in touch if we'd like to know more.

  3. We ask for more

If your book belongs in the library, we'll request sample chapters or the full manuscript then.

Before you submit

  • Please don't send a complete manuscript yet. We begin with the idea. Attachments sent before we ask for them won't be read.
  • One book at a time. If you have several, submit the one you most want published.
  • Write it in your own voice. We're reading for how you think, not for a polished pitch.
  • Fiction is welcome, as long as it teaches. A novel that entertains and nothing more isn't what we're looking for. A novel that leaves the reader with something is.

If we say yes

CharterLight is not a traditional publisher, and it is not a vanity press.

We help you edit your book and get it ready to sell. The accounts that sell it are set up by you, in your name, and we show you how it's done. Your book is then listed here, alongside the rest of the CharterLight library. For now, all profits from the book go to you.
